We wouldn’t be a legitimate group if we ignored this one. Jameson Blended Irish Whiskey is a giant. After all, 30 million bottles sold annually isn’t possible for the vast majority of whisky brands. Today, we look at Jameson’s flagship bottling, their no age statement blend.
The make up is straight forward. A blend of malted, pot still whiskies and column distilled, unmalted whiskies come together in American bourbon oak with a touch of sherry oak aging to fill the distinctive Jameson bottle. The age range of these whiskies are said to be anywhere from 4 to 6 years old. With the triple distillation in play along with non-aggressive wood management, it’s pretty safe to say we won’t exactly be dealing with an explosion of flavor, but a lot of people drink this. Let’s see if we can figure out why…
SWC Group Review
Nose – Irish grain, vanilla notes and buttery smooth. Little sherry sweetness, mellow.
Taste – Grain, vanilla, pleasant floral quality. Light.
Finish – Short, sweet, but rich grain.
Comment – A nice, casual whiskey, but a drinkable classic. Not complex, but we’re okay with that. Solid, introductory dram
SWC Rating- 78/100
