For those out there looking for a notable sherry matured Scotch, pause and take note. Aberlour A’bunadh is a cask strength malt, chill filtered with no water added. Yup, it’s a heavy hitter.
What sets A’bunadh apart from the rest of its family is the fact that is matured exclusively in Oloroso casks. This is a dry sherry that is distinctively different from the sweet sherry that most of the world is familiar with.
In its full concentrated form, this spirit may strike you as a bit intense and very full bodied. Well, it’s supposed to, so settle down, Sally. That being said, a drop or two of water certainly evens out some rough edges as it does for many other spirits. All in all, Aberlour A’bunadh is relatively affordable bottle for a Scotch of its caliber, and should not be neglected by those exploring the whisky world.
SWC Group Review
Nose – Strong sherry on the nose, but light and delicate after water. Some spice.
Taste – Heavy dry sherry kick here. Hints of citrus. Gives way to chocolate vibe.
Finish – Strong initial finish, but fades fairly quick.
Comment – A singular offering in a sea of options. Definitely an experience for sherry lovers, check it out.
SWC Rating- 82/100

Unfortunately, we tried this from a few minis I think from a friends bottle. No way to get the batch at this point. But maybe it was Batch No. Awesome.
