Jameson is everywhere. Not only is it the best selling Irish whiskey in the world, it’s one of the all around best sellers in general. These guys have been around quite a while, so naturally, they have plenty of stock to play around with if they want to launch a new expression. Today’s bottling, Jameson 12yr Special Reserve has been around since the 90’s.
The core of this blend includes special stocks in the barrel warehouse selected specifically for this expression. Obviously, as opposed to the standard Jameson blend, which is relatively young, the minimum age in this blend is 12 years old, so we have much more oak influence than the standard blend of Jameson original. This oak influence is also paired up with some pronounced sherry sweetness.
